Frontier takes DAB+ forward with rollout of BestTune™ and station logo support

Many brands have started launching DAB+ radio products with Frontier’s novel technology, BestTune™. BestTune™ revolutionises radio listening by presenting the user with a single list of radio stations irrespective of whether they are transmitted through FM or DAB+. The technology automatically combines the list of available stations, removes any duplicate listings, identifies which service (FM or DAB+) provides the better signal strength and presents this to the user.

In addition, Frontier have just launched station logo support with a software upgrade to Kino4 / Siena, allowing both DAB station logo and slide show images to be supported. Use of station logos by broadcasters is increasing with some countries, such as Norway, at 100% of radio DAB+ stations using station logo. Germany has over 40% of stations supporting station logo and this continues to grow. Certain broadcasters support a mix of station logo and slideshow images so supporting both options provides the best user experience possible.

BestTune™ is available as standard in all Frontier Siena Pro/Kino4 Pro modules and station logo support is available from SDK version 6.2 onwards for products supporting a colour display.
